Spectacular Window Boxes
Looking for a new spot to plant? Look up! Your next garden could be a window box. It adds color and interest, plus it's easy to tend and plant—you don't have to dig or bend over. And you can change it with each new season to create a fresh look. Master Gardener Erin Schanen gives a variety of tips for designing spectacular window boxeson her blog, The Impatient Gardener. She has ideas for some really nice looking boxes. Grow what you love, rather than what you've heard is "right." Even if you have only shade in your yard, you can plant a window box. Try impatiens, begonias, heuchera, heliotrope, coleus or hostas. For added interest, add something trailing, such as ivy, asparagus fern or vinca. Expand your garden without breaking ground.

Do you follow any of the traditions of giving a May Day basket or May pole dance. What else do you do? I love the idea of giving May Day flowers to welcome in the Spring.
