Another Plant Pathogen on the Way

Chicagoland Gardening Magazine reported that The Morton Arboretum recently sent out a newsletter about beech leaf disease which is currently in Ohio.  Although the beech tree is not as widespread in our area as are the elms and ashes are nobody wants to loose their beautiful Copper beech, Weeping beech or Tricolor beech.

Beech tree trunks look like elephants in the woods.  It would be a shame to loose this beautiful tree.  Read more on the plant pathogen here.

National Bird Day

It's National Bird Day. Which bird is your favorite.  I am always excited to see any at my bird feeders.  Even the sparrows.  I must admit that a pretty red cardinal does catch my eye or the fleeting glimpse of a hawk.  This painted Bunting is on my wish list.  I'll have to move south to see it though.
